Gearing Up for Engineering Club

Vivian Van, Staff Writer

The first couple of weeks here at MSMS have been busy with classes, Parent’s Day and club meetings, including the Engineering Club.

The Engineering Club is open to all MSMS students who have a vision on a project they would like to see be materialized.

Past projects have included a Tesla Coil made by MSMS alumni Kishan Patel (Class of 2016), an MSMS gyroscope made by senior Doyce Cooper, and a metal foundry made by senior Rebecca Chen.

The officers for the club are Seniors Connor McCartney, president; Doyce Cooper, vice president; and McKenzie Jones, secretary. The sponsor of the club is Mr. Josh Crowson who would like students to know that “My primary goal is to inspire students that they can build anything.” He encourages students to come up with an idea, process and list of items so that they can start creating their project.

The equipment available in the shop are common power tools, various 3D printers, and a scanner that scans real life objects onto a computer to create a 3D image of the object.

For students interested in joining the club, shop times are:

Monday 8 a.m.-9 a.m. and 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
