Blue Waves Quiz Bowl team hosts, places high in first Towery McNeil Tribute Tournament

MSMS Team A placed second overall and seniors Jacob Neal and Geoffrey Melton placed second and fourth as individual scorers, respectively, in the first Towery McNeil Tribute Quiz Bowl Tournament, hosted by MSMS on Oct. 21.

Mu Alpha Theta members win team, individual prizes at Millsaps Math Contest

MSMS Mu Alpha Theta Team A — comprised of seniors Landon Tu, Jackson Williams, Sai Narla and Iysiahs York — won second place in the Oct. 21 Millsaps Math Contest team competition and made the first perfect score in the competition’s history. MSMS Team B — comprised of senior Jackie Smith and juniors Andy Chen and Domini Jha — placed fourth. 

In addition to placing high in the team rounds, five of the seven MSMS team members placed in the top 10 for scores on their two individual tests — the ciphering and written test categories. Tu defended his title of first place from last year, and Williams, Narla, Chen and York placed fourth, seventh, eighth and tenth, respectively.

Math Outreach seniors represent MSMS at FORGE Exposition

Math Outreach seniors represented MSMS to 2,500 middle school students at the FORGE Exposition at East Mississippi Community College on Oct. 25 and 26. The exposition introduced education and career paths to middle school students, and MSMS students not only played logic-based games, but also discussed MSMS’s educational opportunities with them.
