The thud of boots are cracks of thunder on the Hogarth auditorium and club room floors. The rhythm is strong and harmonious with the combined steps of the Blue Diamondz and Blue Knights step teams. In preparation for 2015 Fright Fest on Oct. 24 both teams have stepped into overdrive; the Blue Diamondz and Blue Knights step teams have increased practice to twice a week for the past two weeks.

Ayana Love, the the Blue Diamondz secretary, has been called by many on the team the best secretary they have ever had. One member went on to say, “Ayana has wonderful coordination. I love the way she breaks down the steps for us when we don’t understand.”

Love said, “We have greatly elevated from last year. We have planned a great show shock the audience and further expand the theme of our organization. Living at MSMS and trying to cope with classes and stay on track with performances can be stressful, but we can adapt. The fall of  2015 has been a great year; we are now at the heel and looking at the finish line.”

The Blue Knights have also been working hard this year. With a tremendous increase in members from last year, the male step team has grown not only grown in number but also in emotions.

Gunner Spahn, a MSMS senior and new Blue Knights member said, “It began as a group of friends practicing together, but it transformed into a brotherhood.”

The MSMS fashion board will also be presenting a runway walk during the Fright Fest. Giannni Stennis, the fashion board’s co-president describes the fashion show as, “A display of unadulterated creativity translated through the ability to construct outfits from our own wardrobe to fit a theme.”

Justin Calhoun, fashion board’s vice president, said, “ In the words of the wonderfully creative and astounding designer Yves Saint Laurent, ‘Fashion fades and style is eternal inspiration.’”

Sara Conwell, an MSMS Senior, who attended the Fright Fest and assisted with the music said, “I’m happy our teams won and I’m proud that I could help our team win.”
