A Ribbon for the Community

On Oct. 14,  members of the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) organization went to Crawford, Mississippi, to participate in Red Ribbon Week and promote being drug-free. During the event, students painted faces, released balloons and even met cancer survivors.

“It’s always good to go to events and spread positivity amongst the youth and volunteering wherever you can,” Ms. Latoya Bledsoe, Goen Hall Director, said.

Students heard stories and also gave out pink balloons to spread breast cancer awareness.

Junior Liz Huynh stated, “I had a lot of fun listening to the speakers and it was very informative.”

Students really felt accomplished and grateful to be able to give back to the community.

“I enjoyed painting faces of the neighborhood’s children and listening to the stories of breast cancer survivors,” junior Kailah Ware said.

The SADD organization plan on volunteering in more programs later on in the year.
