Mr. Chuck Yarborough has been a teacher at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science since August of 1995.
Yarborough states, “My favorite thing about being at MSMS is working with talented kids from all over Mississippi.” It’s easy to see what motivates Yarborough to come back year after year. “I have the best teaching job on the planet because of my students,” he continues.
Yarborough got his masters from the University of Mississippi and undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University. His masters is in an interdisciplinary program, Southern Studies, and his bachelors was in English and Secondary Education.
Yarborough is married to Leigh, and has three children: two daughters and a son. His favorite color is blue, unless you’re talking skittles; then, it will be red. His favorite book is “Absalom, Absalom!” by William Faulkner, because “… the past is never dead. It’s not even the past.”
Yarborough was asked, “What is the most interesting situation you’ve been in at MSMS?”
He answered, “Some would say teaching life lessons in a cemetery multiple times each year is interesting… I suspect the rest would say it’s weird.”
Mr. Chuck Yarborough is looking forward to another school year.
