MSMS’ tennis team is swinging into the season with its first match on Feb. 21 at Heritage Academy in Columbus.

As the competition nears, players have been honing their skills and incorporating this year’s new players into the team.

“From what I have seen so far in the couple of weeks we practiced, I feel we could win as a team at state,” head coach Troy King said. “I can see they want this just as much as I want it.”

Experienced seniors, notably captain Kadie Van, gave advice to juniors, including “practice is really important” and “people should definitely show up.”

“Focus on form. That’s all it really is, and you’ll do pretty good,” senior Jeremy Dawe added.

Players said they believe their confidence and diligence toward improvement will take the team far and it will be exciting to see the team’s progression through this season.

“In tennis, you have to be consistent. You got to continue; you got to want it; you got to want to do it,” King said.
