MSMS Cross Country Team’s fourth race of the season in Pontotoc on Oct. 24 included 120 competitors.

No one made it into the top 20, unlike previous weeks. The only other meet that had no MSMS students in the top 20 was the Starkville meet. At both the Starkville and Pontotoc meets, senior and captain Abby Perry said there were, “a ton of people.” At Pontotoc, there were around 120 girls running at once, at Starkville there were no divisions; all divisions 1A through 6A ran at once. Perry also said about this week’s course, “The course was very flat and all dirt or grass… it hurt my feet to run on that.”

However, a notable surprise came at the Pontotoc meet when junior Lillian Fulgham shaved her time using an unusual method. Perry said, “Lillian ran barefoot and cut her time by 6 minutes and beat the rest of us.”
