It’s Swiderski, Sarah Swiderski, not Sera, Sara, Sareh, Seira, or even Sarhuh, just Sarah. The senior Sarah Swiderski spends her time playing soccer, which is the only sport at MSMS Miss Swiderski plays. Soccer made its way into her life when she was seven years old, and she is now co-captain of the girls’ soccer team at MSMS.

Soccer is not an individual sport, it is a team sport. The sport requires teamwork, patience, balance, and camaraderie. It is also a game of strategy and full contact. She currently holds the most yellow cards on the team. According to Swiderski, the defender position–her position–is the “best position.”

One of the main reasons why she likes soccer is because it’s a universal sport. The rules are the same almost everywhere, this allows her to be able to play pick-up games with people from all different points of life in her hometown. Through soccer, she has learned how to de-stress and how to work with other people.

Her co-captain, Sarah Kostmayer, describes Swiderski as  “an incredible player with the skills to not only improve herself but also to inspire her teammates to excel as well.

“Soccer is one of the best ways to build that camaraderie because at the end of the day you’re just out there to have fun,” Swiderski said.

Soccer is a time-stealing sport and gives everyone different returns, but she explains, “What I got was a team.”
