MSMS students skated alongside their teachers at Skate Zone during Jan. 28’s Teacher Skate Night hosted by the Wave Riders.

Free food, transportation and admission were provided to the first 50 MSMS students who signed up for the event. Jeremiah McClain, senior and Wave Riders co-president, said he was pleased with the event and looks positively to the future.

“My favorite parts of the event were seeing the teachers skate and having fun with friends,” McClain said. “A lot of people showed up, and although some didn’t get to go this time, I hope to have another event like this soon.”

Junior Vivian Peng said she improved her skating skills at the event.

“The teachers and their kids seemed to enjoy the event,” Peng said. “It was generally an enjoyable experience.”

Even though student consensus was that the event went well, McClain said there still is room for improvement.

I feel like the main problem with the event was the planning,” McClain said. “I started asking teachers if they wanted to join during December. Even though I told them that the dates were subject to change, I feel like there is not much we can do since everyone’s schedules are different.”
