Don’t get mad, get Chick-fil-A: SADD Club Hosts Fundraiser

Students Against Destructive Decisions, or SADD, is a club at MSMS that encourages students to lead their lives in a way not destructive to themselves or others. The club hopes to introduce other ways of relieving stress rather than turning to drugs and alcohol.

Senior Gregory Parker organized the club last year. “I started the club to hopefully get people to not like drugs and drink.” Currently, SADD members are raising money by selling Chick-Fil-A product. Proceeds will be used to sponsor Red Ribbon Week, which is drug abuse and violence awareness campaign observed annually in the United States.

SADD Vice President Valerie McGregor hopes more schools will begin chapters. “I feel like there should be more clubs like this across the country to help kids that are making hurtful decisions to themselves and others.”

Currently, SADD club is working in conjunction with the Drama Club to produce a play that will spread awareness of domestic violence. The goal is more than just a show; the groups want to share an informative message.
