The weeks leading up to spring break are always hectic here at MSMS. For some, they spend every waking hour possible making up for all the wellness they didn’t do. For others, it’s the dreaded junior English research paper. But in the back of everyone’s mind, is the pleasure of a week-long break from school — from all the stress of deadlines and the all-nighters. This year, students took advantage of the break by traveling and catching up on their sleep. Here are some of the things they did:

  1. Went on a spontaneous hike at a state park.
  2. Toured prospective colleges — Tulane, Hendrix, and WashU, to name a few.

  3. Saw a broadway musical. After all, who can resist “Les Miserables”?
  4. Celebrated Pi Day with some classic homemade pie.
  5. Waited 5 hours to test for a driver’s license. Even got lucky enough to parallel park.

  6. Went prom shopping, complained about the prices, and bought the dress anyway.
  7. Took a family road trip in an RV.
  8. Celebrated a birthday in Las Vegas.

  9. Enjoyed an underwater dining adventure at an aquarium restaurant.
  10. Slept over 12 hours every night.
  11. Traveled to Rome, tried some wine, and came back with a… British accent?

  12. Hiked into Mammoth Caves, one of the largest cave systems in the world.
  13. Visited the Windy City and looked down from over 1,300 feet above ground.

  14. Binge-watched more than a couple T.V. shows on Netflix.
  15. Explore the jungle inside the Gaylord Hotel. The river and the glass dome really ties it all together.

  16. Prepared for and competed in science fair competitions (and took home many awards).
  17. Visited dentists and doctors (long breaks are the only available time for that, after all).
  18. Travel along the coast of California and breathed in the salty air.
