Blue Waves Challenge Columbus
November 27, 2017
On Nov. 14, 2017 the MSMS Boys’ soccer team, the Blue Waves, lost a hard-fought battle against Columbus High School, 2-1, which left them at 0-2-1 for the season.
The game took place at the Columbus Soccer Complex, located in downtown Columbus.
Although they were defeated, there were some good plays throughout the game including a goal scored on a shot from the penalty mark by one of the team’s captains, Daniel Leetran.
“We really should’ve won, but our offense couldn’t finish on the ball. Our boys did good, but we let one slip and we just couldn’t find our way back into the game,” Leetran stated.
There were also some good defensive plays, including five saves by senior goalkeeper David Thaggard and two saves by junior goalkeeper, Advaith Sunill.
“We played good but just fell short; we worked our butts off and we’re improving every game. We were just one or two good executions off in this game and we would have won,” captain David Thaggard said.
“The team put forth a great effort tonight possessing and moving the ball,” said head coach Morri Mims. “We achieved our goal to improve our play development and goal scoring opportunities.”
“The boys are relatively inexperienced but are playing like a much more cohesive group,”said MSMS Lady Waves Head Coach Charles Yarborough.
The next game will take place Thursday, November 30, 2017 against Philadelphia.
