Miraculas Clemons: Resident Assistant
November 27, 2017
This week, MSMS shines its “RA Spotlight” on Miraculas Clemons. On Mar. 14, 1996, she was welcomed into the world by her parents Briggese Brown and W.C. Clemons. While growing up in Macon, Miss., she attended Noxubee County High School. Once she graduated, she proceeded to become a student at the Mississippi University for Women. In her spare time, she enjoys watching basketball and spending time with family.
Two years ago, Clemons became an MSMS Resident assistant after being referred to apply by one of the Assistant Hall Directors, Crystal Pierson. She has been working with MSMS every since then.
Clemmons stated that being an RA contributed to the person she is today.
Clemmons explained, “Being an RA has changed the way I look at things or respond to them because I know that there are others around watching some of the things I do and how I respond to them.”
While staying in Goen Residential Hall, Clemons serves as a mother figure to the girls. The students know they can always count on her.
MSMS senior AK Mynatt expressed, “Ms. Miraculous is a great RA! She always makes it a point to ask how we are doing and if we need anything. She’s also super down to earth, so you know you can always talk to her.”
Clemons serves as an aid to the RAs as well.
Goen RA Quaneceya Johnson said, “Working with Miraculas is definitely a blessing because she is always there to help you or encourage you to stay wrong! She is very hard-working and she takes her job seriously!”
Clemons takes pride in her job and loves to help others when she can.
Clemmons shared, “The best part about being an RA is knowing that I am available to talk to the students whenever they need me.” She also added, “There is no better feeling than being able to be someone others can rely on, no matter what the situation is or when it is that they want to talk about it.”
Clemons is currently 21 years old and is in her fourth year of working towards her degree in Psychology. Her goal is to do an internship next semester at the community counseling center in downtown Columbus.
Once Clemmons graduates this year, her future plans involve going to graduate school for Clinical Psychology; she wants to focus on those in the mental health community. Clemmons thinks that she might settle in Texas, but no matter where, she is determined to be successful. After all, her favorite quote is “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m Possible.’”
