The second swim meet of the season for the MSMS Blue Waves took place on Oct. 3 in Tupelo, MS.

Rosie Andrews, female captain of the team, has been swimming competitively since she was 5 years old on summer teams, school teams, and year-round teams.

“Since I was out sick, this was the first meet I was able to attend this season, but everyone who attended the first meet made faster times this past meet,” Andrews shared. “I participated in the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle, the 200-yard medley relay, and the 200-yard freestyle relay.”

Andrews tied with teammate Breanna Herd for 18th in the Girls’ 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.22. The MSMS girls’ relay team ranked 7th in the 200-yard medley relay and 6th in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

“My goggles fell off when I dove in for the 100-yard freestyle, so we’re just going to pretend like that race never happened,” Andrews shared when talking about her fourth event.

“Overall, the meet went really well. We had a few parents and faculty members come support us which always make the meet more exciting. I’m proud of how far our team has come this season and can’t wait to see how we’ll do at our next meet,” Andrews said.

Chris Chain, the coach for the Blue Waves, saw improvement with the team from the previous week’s meet.

“Our ultimate goal is to make State on Oct. 28 in Tupelo and be in the top eight, as well as learn to swim better this season,” Chain said.

North-State is the next meet that the Blue Waves will compete in and will take place at the Delta State University Aquatic Center on Oct. 14.
