Kaye Truitt is a lifelong Mississippian, born in Pascagoula and raised there until she came to The Mississippi University for Women as a freshman in 1980. Truitt graduated from MUW with a degree in physical science (primarily chemistry) and later with a master’s in education.

Kaye Truitt originally came to MSMS in 1989 as a secretary in the Counseling Office; after working 2 years she chose to stay home with her daughter.

After teaching in local schools for 11 years, Truitt returned to MSMS in 2011.

“I love MSMS because almost everyone here is passionate about learning–teachers and students alike are ready to work to make MS a better place to learn and live. It’s always my hope that students will accept the challenges that MSMS presents, find the determination and diligence to succeed, and begin to share their abilities and talents with others. I love seeing students dig deep and achieve their goals with hard work and perseverance,” Truitt explained.

Mrs. Truitt’s interest don’t just reign from math and science, but she also reads as a hobby. “I enjoy reading–don’t really have a favorite book, too many to choose from!” said Truitt.

Truitt has been married to Hal Truitt for almost 34 years and has 3 children and one grandson. She likes purple and blue.
