The students of MSMS battled it out in boys versus girls game of musical chairs on Wednesday, September 27.

As a way for all students to bond, Frazer Hall Director Hansel Jackson held a game of musical chairs. This was organized to give the students a chance to interact with each other in a nonacademic setting and to socialize with students they would not typically socialize with outside of the classroom.

Jackson created a “Battle of the Sexes” game because wanted to add a level of competition to the game to encourage participation and attendance.

“The students got a chance to release some built up stress and for one hour didn’t have to think about classes. It was an opportunity for students to become close and make new friends,” said Jackson.

MSMS students clearly enjoyed themselves at this event, as it got very competitive and people were getting into the game.

“I had so much fun at Musical Chairs. It was a good way to relax and take a break from the academics. We all got a chance to hang out with each other in a stress free environment. Watching everyone fight it out for chairs was very entertaining. I was laughing the whole time and it was just a great way to have a good time,” said junior Jack Shelton.

Last year, only 15-20 students attended musical chairs. This year almost 60 showed up and participated in the event.

“Last year I did not go to musical chairs, but I am glad I went this year. It was a lot of fun, even though it got a little crazy at some points. There were a lot of battles for chairs which was a lot of fun to watch,” said senior Maggie Rennie.

Another musical chairs event will be held in the future due to students’ requests.
