Do Something Club held an interest meeting this week to discuss projects to do something this year. With motivated members, the club has planned plenty of projects to give back to the community, which include the Jeans for Teens Collection, Nursing Home Thanksgiving Cards, Salvation Army Bell Ringing and the AP Student Fundraiser.

The three co-presidents of Do Something–Kamal Bhalla, Shuchi Patel, and Brianna Ladnier–are hoping to make an impact on the community here in Columbus through this club’s actions.

Brianna Ladnier explains, “We hope to change one life at a time. We may not be able to change the world, but we can change someone’s world.”

Kamal Bhalla is especially excited about their Nursing Home Thanksgiving Card. Bhalla explains this program, saying, “MSMS students get together and write meaningful cards to people who wouldn’t otherwise get anything for Christmas. Everyone can write as many letters they want, making each and every card unique in its own way.”

New members of the club are also excited about this project. Junior Victoria Waller expresses, “I love the idea of cheering up someone who’s alone over Thanksgiving and making cards is always fun!”

Like many other club members, Waller is simply motivated by the general goal of the club: to do something and make an impact on the local community.

Waller states, “It’s exciting to try to make a difference in someone’s life that might not have been made otherwise.”

Not only does this club’s benefits help the local community, but they also have positive effects that may interest MSMS students themselves. Ladnier comments on the purpose of the AP Student Fundraiser.

“This is the first year we’ve done this fundraiser. It benefits our students that cannot afford the $100 test, but also do not qualify for financial aid,” Ladnier says.

With motivated members and a compassionate student body, the Do Something Club aims to have an impact.
