The Russian club held an interest meeting to welcome its old and new members on Thursday, August 24.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss plans for the 2017-2018 school year. Olga Goupalova, President of the Russian Club, is looking forward to the club’s monthly meetings so that they can begin discussions about the Russian culture.

“We hope that we can do more this year.  Last year, not that much happened because everyone was busy, so we hope that we’ll have a lot more regular meetings and get a lot more into the culture and really talk about what it’s like living there,” Goupalova stated.

Ms. Margaret Henry, Sponsor for the Russian Club, hopes that students within the club will be able to enjoy learning about the Russian culture and learning it from Goupalova, for she lived in Russia during her childhood years.

New members, like junior Devin Chen, are excited for what is in store for them.

“The thing I’m most excited about this club is learning the differences between my [Chinese] culture and the Russian culture,” Chen expressed.

Both Goupalova and Ms. Henry are eager to recruit new members to the up-and-coming club as there are plenty of creative learning opportunities available through the Russian Club.
