Last Thursday, 23 students from any of the MSMS physics classes received an emailed invitation to compete in the Statewide Physics Bowl. The Physics Bowl took place in Hooper Auditorium at 8:00 p.m. of that day.

Competitors had 45 minutes to complete a 40 question multiple choice test, and were allowed to use a calculator and a provided equations sheet.

MSMS physics teacher Dr. Charles Vaughan said that the competition was part of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) Physics Bowl. The test would be tiered on each physics level, so each student would be competing with others of the same level.

Students who did well on the test have chance to win possible prizes from the AAPT, though the specifics of those prizes remain unknown.
