Southern Voices Deadline Approaching
February 6, 2017
The MSMS Southern Voices magazine is, as Senior and Southern Voices staff Reagan Poston describes it, “the art and literature magazine to showcase all the amazing, creative talents MSMS has to offer.” This competition is open to all students and features sections in poetry, writing, art, and photography.
Submissions to the magazine can be submitted through the MSMS J-Drive under the Southern Voices folder. Any physical art pieces must be submitted through Mrs. Angie Jones. The final date for submission of works to the magazine is February 10.
The writing pieces submitted will be read and scored by the MSMS creative writing classes taught by Mrs. Emma Richardson. The pieces with the highest score will then be sent to unnamed professional and acclaimed writers to be judged.
The Southern Voices magazine publishes annually and serves to gain recognition for the artistic and literary creativity and tact that MSMS students have to offer. Poston says, “Aside from hoping to showcase lots of new talent and lots of variety, Southern Voices is the well-oiled machine from years past.”
Each student will receive a copy of the Southern Voices magazine once published, and previous years copies are available on the tables in Hooper Lobby.
