Over the last week, MSMS began the infamous Tales of the Crypt auditions, hosted by Mr. Yarborough. MSMS juniors auditioned in Shackleford Auditorium and practiced public speaking and performance by portraying a story of a Columbus native research subject.

Each Tales student spent the previous semester gathering information and writing a research paper on their individual subjects. Applying this information to their performance, students portrayed their subjects and acted out a performance competing against classmates for a valuable Tales performing spot.

Performance was judged by Mr. Yarborough and MSMS seniors who were involved in Tales previously. After a careful selection process, juniors Jessica Smith, Tija Johnson, Keegan Lindsey, Hayden Stokley, Harpreet Singh, Kamal Bhalla, Joseph Mimbs, Anna Grace Dulaney, and Jackson Sparkman were selected as individual performers. Christina Comino, Regan Conner, Ta’Kiya Moore, Alana Andrus, Erin Owens, and Kennadi Freeman were selected as Decoration Day Ladies.

MSMS senior and Tales judge, Claudia Vial, spoke on the event: “I was really happy to be involved in tales this year. I loved my experience last year so being able to be at least somewhat involved was really fun. I remember being nervous just like the juniors this year. And I thought all of the auditions were very good.”
