SEAL helps to provide meals

This past Sunday morning, more than 25 MSMS students went to the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. These students woke up early in the morning to volunteer for Stop Hunger Now, an organization that provides meals (typically made of vitamin and mineral enriched grains and rice) for people who  need it desperately.

After unloading heavy boxes for an hour, volunteers gathered to begin packing meals. Jobs ranged from running to bring supplies to filling the meal packets, and from moving packets to the next station to sealing the packets into boxes.

“Wearing a hairnet and gloves, I worked with two senior citizens, holding the packaged meal being filled with vitamins, soy, and rice,” says Baili Zhong, Co-President of SEAL who helped to organize the volunteer service.

“The over 26,800 meals that SEAL members and other MSMS students helped to pack will be shipped to Haiti to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. It was a great chance to wake up at 7AM to help people in need,” Zhong adds.

The students packed around 26,800 meals in the 3 hours.
