Three MSMS students were recognized for their artwork showcased by the University of Southern Mississippi’s “Make Your Mark: The Mississippi High School Drawing Competition” for junior artists from Mississippi. Students receiving awards were Haydn Schroader, Zach Hodge and Larry Stokes. Their entries were among 144 entries to be judged.

Schroader entered her piece, “Skull,” inspiredly her need for a project idea for her Drawing II class. She wanted to use black and white charcoal for her medium. She describes the experience as “pretty fun.”

Schroader placed first and won $300 and a $1,000 scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi.
