MSMS juniors will vote for their class president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and historian on Thursday.
The presidential candidates are Anderson Chaney, Allen Lewis, Reynolds McCaleb, Jayden Wagner, Nina Weinstein and Raymond Yang. The vice presidential candidates are Acyn Harrell, Sasha Harvey, John Sistrunk, Rebecca Sun and Ryan Wei. The secretary candidates are Annaliese Coughlin and Vincent Young. The treasurer candidates are Poppy Bowling and Jack Elliot. The historian candidates are Srujan Chinnapureddy, Sophia Dean and Brayden Smith.
The Vision invited candidates to submit a brief paragraph introducing who they are, why they believe they should be elected and what they hope to accomplish. They were also asked to submit photos, but some declined this opportunity. The Vision also lightly edited the responses below:

Anderson Chaney
My name is Anderson Chaney. I’m from Greenwood, and I am running for class president. I served as president of my former school for two years. I love MSMS, and I want to see our school thrive and become an even better place to be. If you elect me as your president, I will partner with the Department of Defense and Mississippi State University to start a drone engineering program. I will raise money for victims of natural disasters and throw an unforgettable prom! “Anderson for you,” because a vote for me is a vote for you!
Allen Lewis
Hello, my name is Allen Lewis. I come from Brookhaven, and I am running for junior class president. I feel as if I should be elected as president because of my drive and motivation to ensure everybody is heard. I hope to accomplish a year of events that are memorable, amazing and bring our class together.
Reynolds McCaleb
Hi, my name is Ren McCaleb. I am from Tupelo, and I’m running for junior class president. I think I am a good candidate for this position because I have the time and desire to accomplish my duties as president to the best of my abilities. As president, I hope to come up with fun ideas for events my fellow students enjoy and have fun participating in. I also plan to help organize fun events that align with the desires of the class.
Jayden Wagner
Hello, everyone!!!! I’m Jayden Wagner, your animated and passionate candidate for junior class president. I refuse to accept a mediocre prom experience. Prom should be an unforgettable celebration of our time together! Let’s work together to make it a night filled with fun and excitement, bringing to life all the ideas that will make this prom truly memorable.
Nina Weinstein
Hi, my name is Nina Weinstein. I’m from Starkville. I’m running for junior class president! I will make a good president because of my leadership and communication skills. Some things I look forward to planning, along with prom, are a wellness week and a food drive during the holiday season. I look forward to giving back to the MSMS community!
Raymond Yang
Hi, my name is Raymond Yang and I’m from Tupelo. I’m running for junior class president. I would love the opportunity to make additions that reflect the collective values of the junior class. I want to encourage everyone to take risks and make mistakes — hey, it might be worth it. I would like to propose ideas that will make this a memorable year. Not everyone comes from the same background or has had the same opportunities, but together, we’re inspired.

Hello, my name is Acyn Harrell.I am from Oxford, and I’m running for vice president. As a member of my town’s Junior Leadership Program, I have experience in leading intelligent students and am confident that as vice president, I can help run the student body to the best that it can be. Once elected, I hope to bring together the diverse groups of people that MSMS finds and make a supportive group of all their differing personalities, which will facilitate a positive environment for all students. Hi, my name is Sasha Harvey. I’m from Starkville, and I’m running for vice president. Throughout my time as a patrol leader and assistant patrol leader in Scouts, I have learned how to lead and truly listen to people. If elected, I hope to execute events aside from prom such as going skating or having a field day using these leadership skills. Vote Sasha Harvey. Students unite!

Hi, my name is JT Sistrunk. I’m from Clinton, and I’m running for junior class vice president. I feel I should be elected because of my passion and determination to make MSMS a better place. If elected, I hope to make sure everyone feels empowered to reach their fullest potential by creating opportunities for everyone to get involved, share ideas and take ownership of what matters most to us. I also plan to work hard to ensure we can balance our academic excellence and personal well-being. Together, we define the best and brightest.

Hi! I’m Rebecca Sun. I’m from Yazoo City, and I’m running for junior class vice president! I’d love to represent the class of 2026 and plan to facilitate an exciting next couple of years for us all! I feel I should be elected because I want to make this school year as fun as possible for everyone and make sure that everyone is heard. Hi, MSMS junior class. My name is Vincent Young, and I’m from Columbus. I’m running for junior class secretary. I feel I should be elected because I am dedicated to making sure the junior class has the best year possible. I am committed to prioritizing the student body by ensuring their voices and opinions are heard. If elected, I hope to accomplish communication between the students and administration, more engaging events and increased student involvement in decision-making. I also plan to advocate for meaningful changes that reflect the needs and interests of the student body.

Poppy Bowling
Hi, my name is Poppy Bowling. I’m from Hernando, and I’m running for junior class treasurer. I feel I should be elected because I am dedicated and hard-working. If elected, I will ensure that prom is fire, organize fundraisers to boost class funds and maintain transparency and efficiency in managing the class budget and expenses. I also hope to add more playground equipment for students to use.
Jack Elliot
Hello, my name is Jack Elliott. I am from Tupelo, and I hope to be your junior class treasurer. As a future financial professional, I have already delved into the world of Excel spreadsheets and responsible financial management, which are both pivotal to the role of treasurer. Other than the financial side of this office, I am always willing to listen to the input of anybody who approaches me, no matter the topic. If elected treasurer, I will work closely with the administration to bring meaningful change to the MSMS community. Srujan Chinnapureddy
Hi, my name is Srujan Chinnapureddy. I’m from Brandon, and I’m running for historian. I feel I should be elected because of my experience in leadership positions such as being a team captain in my school’s robotics team, where I gained a lot of knowledge of teamwork and efficient planning. Another reason why I should be elected is my ability to relate to the yearbook club as the main editor for clubs and put forth my best efforts to the responsibilities of historian. Brayden Smith
Hello, I’m Brayden Smith from Crawford, and I’m running for junior class historian. I have prior experience with student government positions at my former school, and I hope to apply that experience here. My belief is that to be an effective historian, one must truly get to know their peers. If elected , I will make it a priority to connect with as many classmates as possible and ensure our valuable memories are preserved, so they can be cherished long after graduation.
