Day in the Life of a Tostitos Fanatic (Alexz Carpenter ’19)

Alexz Carpenter, Social Media Editor

Hi, I am Alexz Carpenter, a senior at MSMS. I am the Social Media Editor for The Vision and I am going to tell you about the typical day in my life.

As I start my last semester of my high school career (which is super scary by the way), my schedule has changed a lot since of the beginning of the year. It has slowed down, but it just has made more time for scholarships and college decisions (major yikes).

Morning-

So to begin, I start my day with a lovely (not so much) alarm at 8:00 a.m. I don’t have a first period, so I get an extra 30 minutes of sleep. After I finally get out of bed, I get ready: doing my makeup, sometimes, and dragging a brush through my hair because I always refuse to style it. After that, I gather my things, pack drinks and snacks, and I am out the door.

Next, I sometimes head to breakfast, where I get an omelet with spinach, mushrooms and cheese from Mrs. Beverly, the cafeteria lady. While I eat, I either talk with some friends or do some last-minute studying/homework that I might have not completed the night before.

My first class is World War II taught by Ms. Heintz, which I am very excited to take. I am so glad that I was able to fit this in my schedule this year because this is one of the classes that drew me to applying to MSMS. Today, we were researching people for our research paper project that is due towards the end of the semester. I found a few people from my county, but I am hoping to do it on my great grandfather that fought in the war.

I have 4th and 5th off, so I get to hang out with my friends for a while, eat dinner and do more homework/studying. I was not the most productive today but hanging out with Mrs. Z is very important (she’s a complete legend). After this, I head Mrs. Richardson’s class, University English II , where today we discussed “Paradise Lost” by John Milton. I love discussing religion, so this was something very interesting to me.

Noon-

AP Physics I is at 1:00. I can’t say that this is my favorite class, so I always hope for time to go fast. Finally, for my last class of the day, I go to University Calculus II, which I am really excited for. Calculus has been the easiest math for me so far, so actually understanding something for once is great.

I don’t have an 8th period, so my academic day is officially over! Today, I went straight to the gym because I did not have any meetings to go to after school. After this, I went to dinner, talked on the phone, and then my roommate and suitemate came back from soccer practice.

Evening-

We decided to have a little girl time and did face masks while we did our homework which included ASMR videos, Tostitos and more (follow @tostitosgirl on instagram).

To end my day, I went back to my room at room check and did a little bit more homework and gave up and got myself to sleep by 12:00. My friend Morgan asked us to come down to the lobby and do homework, so we did. We hung out there for a while doing Latin and Calculus homework. After a while, we facetimed one of our seniors for a while and had a great laugh.
