Throughout the past week, students at MSMS experienced the effects of recent severe weather front. The weather brought many challenges relating to school activities. Tornado watches and warnings lasted long into Tuesday night.

The active tornado in the Columbus area brought difficulties because of the extracurricular activities lasting through the week of November 27 – December 3. On Tuesday, November 29, a tornado touched down in Columbus and the school carried out tornado drills throughout the night. Because these are unexpected, students often found themselves without school work to do. After numerous trips to the first floor, the students brought their schoolwork with them to complete in the hallways. With the busy Wednesday schedule that followed the tornado, it took its toll on students because of their belated bed time.

“The tornado drills we had to do were a drag because I had a lot of work due on Wednesday. But it was a little bit helpful because it cancelled our soccer game against Columbus which was a nice break,” MSMS senior Tyler Hartman said.
